THIS is DRAG - SPOTLIGHT 036 / September 2026
ANGELINA LEPORE
Curated by Kevin Blondin
Some queens serve glamour. Some serve attitude. Angelina Lepore serves THE BODY.
Inspired by transsexual nightlife icon Amanda Lepore and generations of performers who paved the way before her, Windsor’s Angelina Lepore has created a drag persona where classic showgirl glamour meets gothic darkness and modern-day edge. But beneath the highlighter, hair, and heels is a story of resilience—and a performer determined to challenge the expectations placed on bodies both onstage and off.
Living with a lifelong physical disability, Angelina knows firsthand what it means to be told that you don't fit the mould. Rather than allowing those expectations to stop her, she turned them into fuel, creating a message that has become synonymous with her drag: you don't have to be able-bodied to be THE BODY.
This month, we're getting to know the woman behind the glamour, the advocacy, and the attitude. Meet Angelina Lepore.
THE BODY HAS ARRIVED
She’s here to command the stage—and challenge every expectation.
There are plenty of drag artists who know how to command attention—but Angelina Lepore knows how to be THE BODY.
The Windsor, Ontario showgirl has spent nearly three years making her mark on the local drag scene, combining classic transsexual glamour with modern-day edge, gothic elegance, and an unapologetic attitude. Inspired by legendary transsexual nightlife icon Amanda Lepore—who personally granted Angelina permission to carry on the namesake—her drag is a celebration of femininity, glamour, and the power of taking up space.
And yes, the BODY, the FACE, and the HAIR are all part of the package.
Angelina describes her aesthetic as classic transsexual showgirl with an edgy twist, drawing on the history and legacy of an art form that has paved the way for performers like her. Glamour and elegance meet darkness in her looks, with gothic elements woven throughout. Her goal? To make darkness as glamorous as possible.
Her inspirations begin with her drag mother, (more to come on that so stay tuned), but extend to the many transsexual icons who came before her. Angelina recognizes that the ability to perform, express femininity, and exist unapologetically onstage comes from generations of performers who fought to make space for those who followed.
That sense of resilience is at the heart of Angelina Lepore.
For much of her life, Angelina didn't believe performing would be possible because she lives with a lifelong physical disability. When she eventually began doing drag, she encountered ableism and ridicule that made her question whether she belonged onstage. After badly injuring herself during her first performance, she nearly walked away altogether.
But Angelina is, by her own admission, extremely stubborn—and she loves proving people wrong.
That experience ultimately inspired the line that has become her signature:
“You don’t have to be able-bodied to be THE BODY.”
For Angelina, the message is bigger than a tagline. She wants audiences to see that society's physical expectations don't determine who gets to command a stage, embody femininity, feel sensual, or be celebrated.
Her drag has also given her some incredible opportunities to build community. She counts TRANSANITY! among her proudest accomplishments, along with working with the House of Cures on a GOOD DEEDS fundraiser for Runaways Farm. She's also grateful to DE Productions for giving her opportunities to work alongside performers she admired—many of whom have since become some of her closest friends.
Outside of drag, Angelina has spent nearly a decade working as a community advocate, an experience she considers one of her greatest achievements. It's another extension of the same determination that fuels her drag: creating space, challenging expectations, and refusing to be told what she can or cannot do.
And when she's not serving BODY, FACE, and HAIR, Angelina keeps things simple: she's a fan of iced coffee, Practical Magic, La Veneno, and a drag kit stocked with Haus Labs Lip Lacquer, waterproof adhesive spray, body oil, plenty of highlighter—and a vape.
Her drag besties include King Hudson Bae, Remedy Cures, and, of course, her drag mother, (more on that coming soon).
Looking ahead, Angelina plans to continue her advocacy work and hopefully bring her message to bigger platforms. She also plans to keep living rent-free in people's minds—and, perhaps, undergo a little more cosmetic work along the way.
Because if Angelina Lepore has taught us anything, it's that glamour and resilience can occupy the same stage.
And Angelina intends to keep proving that the stage belongs to her.
Triple X Oh! An Adult Drag Show
Saturday, September 12, 2026 at The Barbershop Bar in Windsor, Ontario.
From classic transsexual showgirl glamour to gothic elegance, Angelina Lepore has built a drag identity that refuses to apologize for taking up space.
Her journey hasn't always been easy, but every obstacle has only strengthened the message behind THE BODY. Through her performances, advocacy, and community work, Angelina continues to prove that femininity, sensuality, glamour, and stage presence don't belong to any one type of body.
Her advice is simple: don't let anyone tell you that you don't belong on the stage.
As Angelina continues to expand her advocacy work, chase bigger platforms, and—of course—keep living rent-free in people's minds, one thing is certain: THE BODY isn't going anywhere.
